Dung Beetles Ecosystem Engineers

By KDawson posted 12-11-2020 17:03

Dung Beetles Ecosystem Engineers is a national project currently monitoring dung beetle presence/absence in many areas of southern Australia. It is also importing three additional species that are targeting filling early spring gaps in dung beetle activity in sheep and cattle industries. One of the functions of the project is to develop a national network of organisations interested in being engaged with dung beetle work at the local level (currently monitoring, rearing new species, redistributing existing species and community engagement). There is limited opportunity to have activities funded through the remainder of this project but the network will enable ongoing collaboration for further redistribution of existing imported species and lobbying for funds to import additional species that will suit current and other geographic regions of Australia. Check out dungbeetles.com.au for contact details.
